1、else的基本意思是“另外的”“别的”“除去”“其他”。有时也可表示“否则”“要不然”，它是or else省略or的用法。

2、在日常口语中， else有时用在句中仅起强调作用，而实际上它并没有增添什么新意思。

3、else用来修饰疑问代词（who, whose, what, whoever, whatever）或疑问副词（why, when, where, how），以及以any-, every-, some- 合成的复合不定代词和much, little, all, a great deal等数量词。

4、在句中作后置定语，但在which后不可用else。
